Deputy Scott Robinson, one of the new additions to the Cougar family, is the new resource officer at Edgewood High School this year after the departure of Molly Johnson.
Deputy Robinson brings a wealth of experience from his over 31 years of service with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, where he worked in Butler, Preble, and Montgomery counties.
“I was offered this job after retiring from the Ohio State Highway Patrol to be a resource officer at this school and the change of career paths didn’t sound too bad,” Robinson said.
Prior connections to Edgewood also brought Deputy Robinson to EHS.
“My daughter went and graduated from here in 2021 and I also coached 4th, 5th, and 6th grade volleyball while my daughter was in those grades.”
Sophomore Thomas Hall thinks this hire is a great fit for the job.
“He [Robinson] is pretty cool and he’s a better communicator than our previous SRO, ” Hall said.
Deputy Robinson, a Hamilton High School graduate, didn’t think he wanted to be an officer, but he did know he wanted to help people.
“In junior year and senior year, I did vocational machine trades,” Robinson said.
Deputy Robinson learned valuable skills in the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He credits being able to de-escalate situations & being a good listener to problems and concerns as skills that are helpful for both jobs.
“I have the ability to relate to people and be a friendly listener for people,” Robinson said.
Officer Robinson wants EHS to be an inviting and friendly environment for everyone.
“I want to keep everyone safe, and I want everyone to learn how to get along with other people and set up social skills.”
