The 2025 wrestling team had its annual Senior Night on February 7th. The night started with the seniors being announced to show appreciation for their contributions to the Edgewood wrestling team. Then, it was time for the wrestlers to deal with the Fairfield Indians.
The Cougars won this dual vs Fairfield by a final score of 47-35. Seniors Kobe Salyers, Isaiah Nichols, and Carter Smith helped secure the victory in the duel. Other winners included Connor Lykins, Mason Breedlove, Kaiden Ruppert, Casey Brown, and Carter Canaan.
The senior night atmosphere was different. The wrestlers thought that it was different from normal wrestling duals and meets. Senior Thomas Dixon thought having more students there was a cool thing that didn’t happen a lot.
“Having so many people come out to our senior night and support was very cool because we usually don’t have a lot of people come and support so that was one of the best things of the senior night I think,” Dixon said.
The night is for the senior wrestlers to reflect on their favorite moments from their time wrestling and what they liked most about their sport.
Senior Carter Smith, who has been wrestling for two years, said, “In my short time wrestling, the best moment I have had in that time has been placing at our last tournament, which was our SWBL tournament at Carlisle.”
Dixon created some great memories through his first and only year of wrestling.
“My favorite memory of wrestling was placing at my first ever tournament, and it being my first time wrestling was very cool being able to place,” Dixon said.
Senior Night was one to remember for the big dual win over Fairfield and eight of the seniors won their last home matches.
