Dragon China, a family-owned business, has served the Trenton community with crab rangoon and other delicacies since 1989.
Junior, Carson Downie has been eating at Dragon China since a young age.
“I’ve been eating at Dragon China for a while now, when I was younger we lived a couple of blocks away on Lacey Drive, so we’d always walk over and grab something to eat,” Downie said.
According to Dragon China’s website, their two most popular items are General Tso’s chicken and Egg Rolls. Downie agrees with these items.
“I prefer to eat at Dragon China not only because of its convenience being less than 5 minutes down the road but also because of the amazing taste,” Downie said. “I have tried other Chinese restaurants and tried other General Tso’s chicken but none have really topped the taste of Dragon China.”
Carson enjoys the convenience and community aspect of Dragon China, a neighborhood restaurant with enjoyable food.
Although Downie thoroughly enjoys Dragon China, other students like Senior Vinny Perry think it’s ‘average’.
“I’ve only ever eaten there a handful of times, I got their chicken on a stick and lo mein. I’d say it’s average, definitely not anything out of the ordinary,” Perry said.
In addition to the quality, Downie also enjoys the steady prices and the daily specials that they offer.
“I’ve seen many other restaurants and known food chains raise their prices with inflation going up, from my memory Dragon China has stayed fairly the same,” Downie said. “A normal meal is around $10 or $11, if you go during lunch time they have a lunch special menu. Ordering food during this time usually gets you to almost half price.”
According to Dragon China’s website, they have a lunch special that puts entrees like General Tso’s chicken at $8 while normally it is $12. The lunch specials run from 11 am to 3 pm.
Although Vinny doesn’t like Dragon China, he says that he would recommend it to other people.
“Even though I’m not the biggest fan of Dragon China I can definitely understand why some people love it since it’s been in Trenton for so long. I would recommend it to others to give it a try,” said Perry.
“Dragon China is definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants I have eaten at. Not only does it bring a great taste but its pricing is very fair as well. It is also a family-owned restaurant so when buying their food you know it’s going right towards the workers who make the restaurant possible to run,” said Downie.
