For the second year in a row, Principal Geygan continues his walks with seniors to get to know them better.
Mr. Geygan started the walks last September and he picks a senior once a week to interview about their EHS experience and any plans after high school. Using an ESPN segment as inspiration, Mr. Geygan realized that this would be a great way for him to connect with students.
” ’94 feet with Jay Bilas’ inspired me to start this tradition,’’ says Mr Geygan.
His first walk of the 2024/2025 school year was Caden Sparks.
”It was pretty fun to have that sort-of informal, unprofessional interaction with them[Mr. Geygan and Mr. Vanden Eynden] where we could mess around and have fun,” said Sparks.
Caden was very excited when he was chosen for the senior spotlight.
“I was overcome with exuberance when I was chosen first overall by Geygan himself,” said Sparks.
Senior Evelyn Henson was also chosen for the senior walk.
“It was an amazing experience getting to talk about the things I do around school and for him to choose me out of all the seniors,” said Henson.
While the questions start about school, Mr. Geygan also asks about future plans. He asked Evelyn about her college softball plans.
“I liked that he gives you opportunities to talk about stuff I’m interested in,” said Henson.
When choosing what students Mr.Geygan wants in his walks he picks a diverse group of students. Assistant principal, Mr.Vanden Eynden records the senior walks and adds music of the student’s choice to the video. Most videos are only one take unless there’s a screw-up.
