Fashion is everywhere, on every person you look at there is a conscious choice to decide what to wear. Retail stores like American Eagle, Pacsun, and Tjmaxx have to decide which trends will sell the best with consumers deciding what will look the best. Fall fashion is at its peak, the question is, what is everyone wearing?
Three Edgewood students who work at these places can give the rundown of what’s selling as people who witness this constantly.
Jack Cooney, an Edgewood senior and eleven-month American Eagle associate sheds light on the sales within his store. With the new fall floorset coming in, Jack has been filling the floor with new items.
“Cargos are definitely restocked the most for men during fall,” Cooney says. “Jeans and cargos are what a lot of customers purchase during this season from what I’ve seen.”
Cooney brings up that even though women have more variety at American Eagle, there is still a large amount of clothes for men. This consists of the basics such as hoodies, flannels, sweatpants, and of course, jeans and cargos, as Cooney mentions.
2024 Edgewood alumni Jovana Lambe has worked at PacSun since May of this year. Her experience within the retail industry has given Lambe an educated opinion of fashion for the fall.
Lambe works at the Pacsun in the outlet mall which carries clearance items.
“Our store is an all-clearance Pacsun so instead of getting new fall arrivals for floor-set we just change our entire outline of the store and bring more back stock out,” Lambe states.
A popular trend for women is the basic staple, jeans, in addition to these recurring basics ballet flats and cardigans.
Another store that is similar to Pacsun in the way that they have a lot of discounted clothing is Tjmaxx. Tjmaxx carries name-brand clothing and they get this clothing from these big brands that either have too much product or are getting a new floorset of clothes.
EHS senior Ava Polston, a two-year employee at T.J. Maxx, thinks winter essentials are prevalent this fall.
“I see a lot of crewnecks and sweaters especially right now during fall,” Polston says.
T.J. Maxx brings in shipments from big-name stores but discounts their prices so buying from them is getting the trending styles for a cheaper price.
T.J. Maxx started to bring in fall clothing towards early August time.“Teenage girls are usually the ones who come in and buy colors like browns and oranges like fall colors. A lot of cropped puffer vests and shackets are being bought during this time.”
T.J. Maxx offers limited amounts of each clothing item and once it’s gone it’s gone because they don’t get restocked.
The overview of this fall season is that new trends are appearing as well as old trends resurfacing and it’s important to know what everyone is wearing.

This article was interesting. I notice clothing styles that were trending when I was in high school during the 1960s are become fashionable again. What goes around comes around, I just hope teased hair and white lipstick stay buried,
