As October settles in, Edgewood High School students are gearing up for fall festivities, and one of the most exciting activities on their agenda is visiting haunted houses. Among the most popular destinations for thrill-seekers are Kings Island Haunt and Land of Illusion Scream Park.
Students have strong opinions about each local haunted house. Sophomore Zane Little passionately argues for Land of Illusion.
“Land of Illusion is a lot scarier than Kings Island. I know a lot of people who go there from our school, and many even work there,” Zane said. “Overall I would vote Kings Island haunt a 7/10 there’s always so many people, lines are so long and crowds are bad but the haunted houses are good most of the time. I would vote Land of Illusion an 8/10 there’s less crowds and haunted houses are scarier.”
On the other hand, sophomore Caydence Walker stands by Kings Island.
“Kings Island has the best-haunted houses! I always enjoy going there with my friends because there are so many different options, and it’s always a scary experience,” Walker said.
Kings Island boasts an impressive lineup of haunted houses that keep visitors on the edge of their seats. The experience at Kings Island is known for its immersive themes and thrilling scares, making it a staple for local high schoolers looking for a fright.
“At Kings Island, there’s a haunted house called KillMart. It was one of the scariest haunted houses I’ve ever been through. The line is always really long, but it’s absolutely worth the wait,” Walker said.
However, Land of Illusion also has its fervent supporters. Senior Camden Bledsoe, who works at Land of Illusion, sees large crowds supporting the Madison Township park.
“Saturday is the busiest night,” Bledsoe said.
As Halloween approaches, the debate between Kings Island and Land of Illusion continues to ignite excitement among students, ensuring that both destinations remain popular choices for spine-tingling fun.
Both Kings Island and Land of Illusion close on November 2.
