Mrs. Allyson Cassidy and Mr. Caleb Vanden Eynden are the two new assistant principals at EHS after the resignations of Mrs. Limon and Mr. Ahlers.
Assistant Principal Caleb Vanden Eynden used to be a K-12 band teacher before moving to Edgewood. Mr. Vanden Eynden will be now the vice principal for freshmen and sophomores after his July 15th hiring. “I chose Edgewood due to the location, being close to home, close to family, and because of the community,” Mr. Vanden Eynden said.
Allyson Cassidy was a seven-year science teacher before being hired in July. Like Mr. Vanden Eynden, Mrs. Cassidy wanted to join the EHS community. “I love the community of Edgewood, it reminds me of Liberty Township,” Mrs. Cassidy said.
Both new principals are settling into their day-to-day roles and learning about the staff and students.
Principal Geygan is satisfied with the vice principals as they bring new ideas to EHS. “They are energetic, bring a fresh perspective, and get things done,” Mr. Geygan said.
Despite it only being the first year for the assistant principals, they already have advice for students who would like to become one. Mrs Cassidy warns about the sometimes chaotic nature of the job.
“Be prepared because your day is not your own,” Mrs. Cassidy said.
Mr. Vanden Eyndem is excited about the homecoming pep rally, including hungry-hungry hippos, and seeing the community together in the same place. His advice for being a vice principal is to get to know your students.
“Become a really great teacher.”
