Kadence Schmidt- News Editor
I started writing for Cougar Prints this year and I have had fun learning how to do articles and how to edit them. I’m glad I was able to do it my senior year and wished I had done it sooner. Being in Cougar Prints has taught me to be a better writer and to focus more on Edgewood programs that I wouldn’t usually hear about. My favorite part of Cougar Prints is talking to different people and hearing about other experiences with school and extracurricular activities. This will one of the classes that I miss the most after I graduate.

I started writing for Cougar Prints my senior year, I had no idea how much fun I would have in a full year, and how it would impact my decision in what career field I want to pursue. From starting as a nobody reporter who didn’t know what I was doing, to getting a gig as the beat reporter for Butler County High School Sports Report, and now becoming the Sports Editor for Cougar Prints has been a great experience in my senior year. This experience with Cougar Prints has helped me in many ways with meeting new people, gaining connections, and gaining confidence in myself.
There are a lot of teachers here at EHS I could thank, but the most influential ones are Mr. Heflin, Mr. Chasteen, Mr. Caudill/Fairchild, and Mrs. Gabbard. All of these teachers have made me a better student, and a better person as a whole, they’ve put a lot of hard work into me as a student, and I can’t thank them enough for that! Mr. Heflin has taught me my sophomore, and senior years, especially by helping me get the gig at BCHSSReport, he has also made me a better writer. Mr. Chasteen has invited me to go on trips with him through DECA, we’ve gone to Boston, New York City, Cleveland, and Chicago. On all of these trips, I’ve learned a lot about Marketing, Management, and Finance. Also, I have made lifelong friends with those moments, and I can’t thank him enough for that. With both Coach Caudill, and Coach Fairchild with PE Class all four years at EHS has been super fun, they’re both down to earth, and overall great humans, and Caudill allowing me to become the Public Address Announcer for the Cougars baseball team has been a blast. Lastly, Mrs. Gabbard has been a blast to have in class both in Public Speaking, and English. She has brought me under her shoulder and has helped me in life, giving me advice, and helping me along the journey with college admissions.
After graduation, I will be attending Saint Vincent College in Latrobe Pennsylvania, to major in Sports Management, as well as participating on the men’s Bowling team, with plans to be a Broadcaster, or to work with a Sports team in the future.
Shoutout to our viewers, we do these for you, you’re the backbone of this company.
