Music educator Nick Fields was honored by Yamaha for the 40 under 40 list.
Mr. Fields is overjoyed to receive the award and it motivates him for his future
“Very humbled and makes me want to continue to work my hardest here at Edgewood,” Fields said.
Fields started working at Edgewood in 2009. He has been working as a music educator for 15 years now.
Mr. Fields has wanted to become a music educator since he was young.
“I realized how important my band directors and teachers were in my life,” Fields said.
Mr. Fields is the EMS band director, the EHS assistant band director, and runs the orchestra for the musicals.
“There are many aspects of teaching that can be rewarding, Especially watching my students get a superior rating at the OMEA state finals,” Fields said.
One of those students was Robert Eggebrecht who has been in the band for six years. He’s been in marching band, concert band, percussion ensemble, pep band, musical orchestra, and Choralier combo.
Eggebrecht was Mr. Field’s student throughout middle school and has had him a little bit throughout high school.
“It has been a fun and great time having him teach me,” Eggebrecht said.
Eggebrecht has had many amazing experiences with Mr. Fields.
“My favorite memory is when lightning struck the field by us when we were in the parking lot and he casually said time to head inside,” Eggebrecht said.
All the memorable moments Mr. Fields has made have always stuck with him.
“Fall Friday night football games with marching band are a blast and conducting the pit orchestra for the high school spring musical has always been a yearly highlight for me,” Fields said.
Mr. Fields is a part of every Friday night football game and his band helps bring so much energy to the stadium and fans.
Mr. Fields will continue to inspire kids throughout the rest of his career.
