Throughout this year there have been multiple busing issues. The number one problem is that the buses are overcrowded. The recent failed levy led to middle school bus routes being combined with the high school routes, which has added to the overcrowding. Many of the high school students who ride the bus have problems with the middle schoolers taking their spots on their buses.
Freshman Max Stover rides bus 4. His bus does not have any assigned seats and he doesn’t like it when his seat is taken but isn’t going to make a big deal about it.
“My bus is so packed that I can barely find another seat if somebody else were to take my spot,” said Stover.
Most buses don’t have any assigned seats.
Freshman Carter Breedlove rides bus 16 and they have some sort of system that is for the high schools and middle school students.
“Most middle schoolers don’t take my spot because from seat 17 and back is for high school only, so if I were to get my seat taken it would be by another high school student,” said Breedlove.
Some students would love to change some of the bus rules.
Freshman Kloee Adams has so many changes that she would want to make, but one of the rules she thought of might just be in consideration for Edgewood.
“I would let the middle school students go home before the high school lets out so that all of the students from the high school that ride the bus don’t have to share any seats with other high school students and/or middle school,” said Adams.
Some of the other students would change things about the busing problems
“I would make sure that all buses have assigned seats so nobody is getting their seats stolen, also so that it doesn’t become a problem every time you get on the bus,” said Stover.
While these are claims from the students, the school has no part of the assigned seats. That is what the bus driver is for.
Many students are upset with the fact that the buses are overcrowded but have no control over it.
