EHS baseball is hoping to rebound from an 11-16 season. Junior pitcher, Jackson Spears has high hopes for the team this season.
“We are more focused on developing and taking it game by game,” Spears said.
Junior outfielder, Nick Kelhoffer says he wishes to improve from last season.
“Overall chemistry for the team and being able to improve 1% every day during the season and as a whole,” Kellhoffer said.
Spears also hopes to improve from last season.
“Bring more energy and play with a chip on our shoulder,” Spears said.
This season is the first season in the SWBL after playing in SWOC for 11 years. Jackson played in the SWBL during his freshman season at Madison.
“I didn’t play many of the SWBL teams we will play this year, but I think it is better competitive wise, I think the SWBL is more small ball oriented compared to the SWOC,” Spears said.
Kellhoffer last year had a batting average of .377 and 20 stolen bases, and he wants to improve both areas.
“I’m going to improve this year by obviously working on the craft harder and steal more bases. Hoping to break the stolen base record in a single season again and overall do better at the plate trying to go .500 or more,” Kellhoffer said
Jackson last year was a key member of the rotation, being third on the team with 22.2 innings pitched, However last year he had a 5.559 ERA and wants to improve in the 2024 season.
“I think I can lower this more by being more effective and efficient early in counts. I think that if I keep walks to a minimum it will even out just fine,” Spears said.
This season will start on Saturday, March 23 when they travel to Hamilton.
