Senior bowler Michael Marts broke the single-game high score record in EHS history, During the East-West Showdown at Western Bowl in Cincinnati. Junior, Trent Stewart was really excited for Michael.
“I was really happy with Michael, It’s one moment I will never forget”. Stewart said.
Michael has been a three year starter and a two year team captain. Junior, Brandon Williams likes the captain and appreciates his encouragement and pushing the team.
“He’s been our team leader for two years and he has been coaching us around too, he’s also taught me a lot and Trent a lot about bowling, Michael has his ups and downs but he has the school record now, which has not been broken in 7 years,” Williams said.
During their tournament, Michael knew he had a chance to break the record going into the last frame.
“I knew about it, but I knew I couldn’t bowl a 300 so why be nervous about it,” Marts said.
Once Michael broke that record he and his teammates went wild
“It was very packed in there that day, but when Michael broke that record it was very loud,” Williams said.
Marts enjoyed this moment,
“Oh it was very loud, obviously it was a tournament, and there were close to 20 teams, but during that 10th frame everyone was actually dialed in on me and it was pretty cool”. Marts said.
This year the team really hasn’t been the best with how many kids we have on the team, but Michael breaking this record really boosts the team’s confidence.
“We definitely lost a lot of players last year, we have 5 guys with no subs, but some of us are returning players. Our record this year is 6-7, just a little under .500,” Williams said.
With the season coming to an end, the players are preparing themselves for the state tournament. Entering this season Michael set aspirations for this year, as he’s trying to keep it alive.
“My goals were mainly to build off last year, making it to districts and hopefully even a state run this year,” Marts said.
