Four Edgewood seniors signed their letter of intent to attend and play sports at the collegiate level.
The following athletes were:
Hayden Honchul- Central State University Men’s volleyball
Aubree Brown- Indiana University-East Soccer
Peyton Steiniger- Asbury soccer
Kate Stephens- Bluffton University soccer
Aubree has played soccer for the Edgewood women’s soccer team for the past four years and plans on pursuing her dreams of playing soccer at the next level. She will study early childhood education. As Aubree finishes up her last year of high school, she has a lot to look forward to with her soccer career at Indiana East.
“IUE is a good fit for me because not a lot of people go there and it’s a small college. It was very nice when I went to visit and was very welcoming,” said Aubree. “I’ve played soccer since I was 3 and I’ve always loved and enjoyed playing the sport. I wasn’t ready to end playing soccer so I decided to play at the next level.”
Peyton was the goalie for the Cougars for the past four years. She plans on studying sports management at Asbury University while playing soccer. She is very excited for her soccer journey to continue.
“I’ve been working towards this my whole life, and it’s all finally happening,” said Peyton.
She chose Asbury because it felt like the right fit for her.
“I felt in my heart that it was where I was supposed to be. I just love the team, the atmosphere, and the whole place just reflects Jesus which I absolutely love,” said Peyton.
Kate was a three-year varsity starter but her senior season was taken away due to an injury. She plans on studying nursing at Bluffton University. Kate is excited for the next step in her soccer career.
“I’m most excited for the overall experience of college. As nervous as I am, I’m also excited to get out on my own and meet new people and teammates while experiencing new things,” said Kate.
Kate has a lot to look forward to in her upcoming seasons with the Beavers.
She felt that Bluffton worked for her best due to the size of the school.
“As I’m going to a smaller school, I like the close family aspect of a smaller team. From getting on campus and spending time with the team, I knew that Bluffton University was the place for me” said Kate.
We want to wish all these athletes the best of luck in college!
