Homecoming nominations can be really stressful. Not only do people have to decide on who to pick but, it’s even a more stressful time when they want to win.
Teacher and advisor Rachel Anderson is the only person who helps with the nominations.
“I do everything,” Anderson said.
The process can seem like a long time. After the students nominate a person, Anderson has to go through every single person to make sure the name is spelled correctly and the grade level is correct.
That’s what makes the nominations so long. The average time for the students to finally know who is on homecoming court is around two weeks.
“I also just want to give the students enough time to vote,” Anderson said.
Freshman Emma Dugas didn’t find it challenging at all when it came to deciding on who to pick for homecoming nominations.
“I just picked people that are really nice and funny,” Emma said
In addition, out of all of the personalities that were on the list, she then found it much easier for who to vote on.
“I picked my friends because I think they deserve to win,” Emma said
Sophomore student council member Josie Henderson has been a part of the student council program for two years now. This is also Josie’s second year at homecoming.
Josie knows the ups and downs of homecoming, and that also comes with its nominations.
“They send out a list and then you’re able to send in any name that you want, then you get put on the first list, then from that you’ll go to your top eight, then from your top eight, you’ll be able to know who your prince and princesses are,” Josie said
The homecoming nomination process is long but once you decide who your prince and princesses are, it’s worth it.
Overall, Homecoming is a lot of work, especially when it comes to nominations. The nomination is the most important part of homecoming. Without it, they wouldn’t have your prince or your princesses.
