Edgewood Choraliers win grand champ!

Macy Wilson, Reporter

The Edgewood Choraliers had an outstanding season this year! This wonderful group of high schoolers has created a bond and has made this season extra special.

This year’s Choralier theme was “Back to our Roots”, a more country side of show choir. In total, there were seven songs. “Hit the Ground Running” by Desi Valentine, “Nomad” by Jeremy Renner, “Hometown” an original by Ben Wexler, “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean, “Georgia Peaches” by Lauren Alaina, “Boondocks” by Little Big Town, and last but not least, “Loud” by Big and Rich. Overall, this season the Choraliers have had five competitions.

Starting with this year’s show at Northrop Classique was a competition in Northrop, Indiana where they placed 4th, or third runner-up.

The next competition was the Medina Midwest Showcase in Medina, Ohio, where they placed third runner-up again along with best costumes.

Following that, they traveled to Grove City, Ohio for the Voices in the Grove competition. At this competition, they received first runner-up (2nd place) along with best costumes, best dance break, and best male soloist, James Schenck.

The next competition they went to was the Hamilton Double H Showcase. They received 1st place along with best vocals, best choreography, and best band.

Finally, their last competition was in Marysville, Ohio, at the Marysville Showcase, they placed fifth runner-up (6th place).

Seniors Elle Koontz and Hailey Hall discuss the feeling of the room at Double H when they received Grand Champions.

Hailey describes it as “surreal.” “It was the first time Edgewood has been grand-champed since 2017,” Hailey said. “So the first time anybody in this group has ever grand-champed.”

Elle said it was “the best feeling of my entire life.” “Whenever we got on stage, it felt like an actual movie,” Elle said. “Everyone was screaming and crying.”

The Edgewood Choraliers put a lot of hard work into this program and they feel like everything has paid off.
