Edgewood's 2022 SWOC Championship trophy
The Edgewood Cougars’ football team begins their run in the playoffs tonight against Lima Senior at Kumler Field. The Lima Senior Spartans, a team from the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC), will come into the game with a 3-7 overall record. Edgewood (9-1) earned the number three seed in the playoffs and the right to host tonight’s game.
After defeating the Harrison Wildcats in week 10, final 47-7, the Cougars concluded their regular season as SWOC Champions.
Cougars quarterback, #11 Riley Brown, has thrown for 754 yards on 34 completed passes. Riley has also thrown 9 touchdowns in the regular season.
A leader throughout the season and into tonight’s playoff game is Cougars running back #32, Braden Sullivan. Braden has 429 yards receiving and 6 touchdowns.
The leading scorer for the Cougars, #34 Tavionne Crosby, broke 1,000 yards rushing in Edgewood’s game against the Talawanda Brave. He will be going into the playoffs with 1,170 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns.
Brick Barker, #27, is leading the Cougar defense with 92 tackles and 3 interceptions for a total of 42 yards.
While stats for Lima Senior are currently unavailable, the Cougars are certainly going to be ready come kickoff tonight at 7:00 PM. The Den theme is “Halloween Costumes”! Come out to support the Cougars!
